Ashford
Stud adds two extremely well-bred grade I winners to its roster this year in
the shape of Majestic Warrior (TrueNicks,SRO) and Henrythenavigator (TrueNicks,SRO), and this exciting duo are
also enrolled on TrueNicks, giving breeders the opportunity to run
complimentary hypo-mating reports with them.
Despite
owning a classic pedigree, Henrythenavigator captured the Coventry Stakes (Eng-II) over six furlongs at Royal Ascot at 2. At 3, he took in succession the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I), the Irish Two Thousand
Guineas (Ire-I), the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I) in a new course record,
and the Sussex Stakes (Eng-I). Those races saw him twice defeat New Approach,
and gain three victories over Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) victor Raven's
Pass. He ended his career with an excellent second in the Breeders' Cup Classic
(gr. I), when making his only start on a synthetic surface.
Henrythenavigator
is a son of Kingmambo (TrueNicks,SRO)
out of Irish champion 2-year-old filly Sequoyah, and is
a brother to group-winning and twice classic-placed Queen Cleopatre. His dam, a
daughter of Sadler's Wells, is a sister to Irish champion 2-year-old filly
Listen.
Majestic
Warrior broke his maiden on his debut at 2, scoring over 6 1/2 furlongs at
Saratoga. He returned to take the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), scoring by 2 1/4 lengths
from Ready's Image (TrueNicks,SRO). The only A.P. Indy (TrueNicks,SRO) son to win a grade I at less than a mile,
Majestic Warrior is out of two-time grade I winner Dream Supreme, a daughter
of Seeking the Gold. The granddam, Spinning Round, is a grade I-winning
daughter of Dixieland Band out of a Secretariat mare, and is bred on a similar
cross to Storm Cat.
