Wyn Oaks
Farm in Delta, Pa., makes its first foray into the stallion business
with Weigelia, who retires for the 2009 breeding season, and for whom breeders
can now get complimentary TrueNicks ratings, courtesy of the farm.
A millionaire winner of 13 races including Carry Back Stakes
and Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap (both gr. III), Weigelia has sound claims to
be regarded is the fastest Danzig-line horse at stud in the U.S. today. He ran
fractions of :21.2, :43.4, :55.0, and 1:07.0 -- the last
two times establishing course records -- and showed brilliant speed on both dirt
and turf. His sire is by Danzig out of champion sprinter Safely Kept, and is closely related to multiple graded stakes winner and successful
regional sire Partner's Hero (TrueNicks,SRO). On the distaff side of his pedigree, he comes
from an historic Calumet Farm family that also produced the immortal Citation,
Filly Triple Crown heroine Davona Dale, and Preakness Stakes victor Gate
Dancer.
