New Subscriber Hi Teck Man Tops Texas Second-Crop Sires

TrueNicks is pleased to welcome one of the Lone Star state's most promising young stallions, Hi Teck Man (TrueNicks,SRO).

As a juvenile, Hi Teck Man won the Ruidoso Thoroughbred Futurity and A. C. Kemp Handicap, and he confirmed that form with a win in the 2004 WinStar Derby -- now the Sunland Derby, a race that produced this year's Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird.

A son of the Majestic Light stallion Claudius, Hi Teck Man is the number two second-crop sire in Texas by cumulative earnings. He's already sired the likes of Lady Hi Teck who has won or placed in three stakes, including a win in the Permian Basin Stakes last fall at Zia Park.

Hi Teck Man appears to have gotten off to a good start but with his small crops, will anyone notice him after a year or two?  He is interesting since he provides Raise a Native without Mr. Prospector and appears to already have an affinity for Mr. Prospector line mares (no shortage of them).  Lastly, he only made 10 lifetime starts, obviously he was not physically perfect.  How does this bode for his get and can the issue be addressed with careful mare choice or does he stamp his get?
