There was some activity of note among the younger
stallions over the past weekend. Second-crop sire Even the Score (TrueNicks,SRO)
, who had Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT) winner Take the Points a week earlier, was represented by Four Gifts (a graded winner earlier
this year), who took the $250,000 Charles Town Oaks. She is out of a mare by Service Stripe (by Deputy Minister), and inbred 4 x 4 to Blushing Groom (FR).
Freshman Pollard's Vision (TrueNicks,SRO) was in the news a few weeks ago when represented by Vertical Vision who captured
the Prairie Gold Lassie Stakes. (Here's another pedigree with a Blushing Groom double and out of
a Service Stripe mare -- maybe we have a useful inexpensive broodmare sire in
the making....) He added a second stakes winner at the weekend when Air Crew,
previously second in the Premio Giuseppe de Montel and third in the Premio
Primi Passi (Ity-III), took the Criterium Labronico. He is out of a mare by Holy Bull (TrueNicks,SRO)
and is rated A. Incidentally, Pollard's Vision now has nine stakes winners and sits in seventh on the leading freshman table.
