Stormin Fever (TrueNicks,SRO) ranks #4 on the California Sire list with over $2.5 million in progeny earnings. The son of Storm Cat, out of the Seattle Slew mare Pennant Fever (making him a full brother to multiple grade I winner Raging Fever) is the sire of a pair of grade I winners. Among his 2009 graded winners are Whirlie Bertie, winner of the Gardenia H. (gr. III) and 2yo Biofuel, a grade III winner at Woodbine. Overall, Stormin Fever’s juveniles have earned nearly $1 million this season which puts him first among California based stallions.
Salt Lake (TrueNicks,SRO) was North America’s leading first crop sire in 1996, ranking ahead of three eventual champion General Sires, A. P. Indy, El Prado and Saint Ballado. Lifetime, he’s the sire of 67 stakes winners and 148 total stakes horses (13% from foals) in crops sired in both North and South America. Among his many good runners are the Champions Fantasy Lake and Salt Champ and the grade I winners Ordway and Salty You. Salt Lake is the fifth ranked California stallion in 2009, with progeny earnings over $2.4 million.
