Spendthrift Farm Renews With TrueNicks

Malibu Moon (TrueNicks,SRO) has had many good years at stud but 2009 was his best. He ranked #11 on the General Sire List with over $6.9 million in progeny earnings and was represented by a pair of grade I winners in the year just concluded.

Grandsons of A. P. Indy like Tapit and Sky Mesa (both by Pulpit) are going great guns. In 2010 we’ll see the first runners by Don't Get Mad (TrueNicks,SRO) , the first major son of Stephen Got Even to have runners. Out of a mare by Jolie Halo, Don’t Get Mad was a multiple graded stakes winner as a three-year-old.

The Spendthrift roster is rounded out by three second year stallions.

Into Mischief (TrueNicks,SRO) took the 2008 grade I Hollywood Futurity on the west coast, defeating eventual Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) and Travers Stakes (gr. I) winner Colonel John in the process. He is a son of Harlan’s Holiday out of a stakes winning Tricky Creek mare.

Tiz Wonderful (TrueNicks,SRO) was another top two-year-old, going a perfect four-for-four in his juvenile campaign. Among those victories were impressive scores in the Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) and the Kentucky Jockey Club (gr. II) over the eventual winner of Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) and Haskell Invitational (gr. I). He’s by Tiznow out of a mare by Hennessy.

The In Excess son Notional (TrueNicks,SRO) posted important wins in the San Rafael Stakes (gr. II) and Risen Star Stakes (gr. III) in the spring of his sophomore season. Out of a mare by French Deputy, Notional is by In Excess, a perennial leading sire in California and the sire of the very successful Kentucky stallion Indian Charlie.
