Of the numerous orders we have received for the new TrueNicks Stallion Analysis and companion Pedigree Consultants Stallion Compatibility Report, one of the most intriguing was for Sabirli, who retires to Karacabey Farm in Turkey for 2010. While Sabirli may not be a very familiar name, he is a son of 1991 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner, Strike the Gold, out of a mare by Irish Derby (gr. I) winner Shareef Dancer. He was an extremely tough, versatile and talented competitor, winning 26 races (22 graded stakes when Turkish graded events are included) from 6-9½ furlongs, and clocking impressive times of 1:08.97 for three-quarters of a mile, and 1:33.68 for a mile. He demonstrated his class when defeating some notable overseas challengers for the 2007 Topkapi Trophy (gr. II), the richest mile race run in Europe that year.
Making recommendations for a Turkish-based grandson of Alydar is something of a challenge, but it is one that the TrueNicks Stallion Affinity Report rendered surprisingly easy to overcome. The report gives a TrueNicks rating for the stallion while crossed over a mare by any horse throughout the world who had 50 runners as a sire or broodmare sire in the previous year. It also sorts the top-rated crosses by TrueNicks rating; by TrueNicks unique Sire Improvement Index; alphabetically; and by sire line.
Delivered on-line (which makes it easily searchable with a browser), with a bound copy following, the report provided us with plenty of good crosses for Sabirli with European-based stallions, some of whom we would never have guessed. Even better, the sort by sire line made it very easy to for us to indentify stallions and broodmare sires that are in the Turkish population, but who might not have had 50 starters in the previous year. Armed with the TrueNIcks Stallion Analysis and Pedigree Consultants Stallion Compatibility Report, Sabirli will start his career with the best possible opportunity to cover mares that fit his pedigree.
Incidentally, looking through the Turkish sires table, we found a number of very familiar names, among them Unnacounted For, Mountain Cat, Sri Pekan, Sea Hero, West By West, Always a Classic, River Special and Victory Gallop, some of whom whose daughters look fine matings for Sabirli.
