TrueNicks Welcomes Desert Party

Multiple graded stakes winner Desert Party (TrueNicks) has been retired and will stand the 2011 breeding season at Darley's Jonabell Farm near Lexington, Ky.

A $2.1 million two-year-old purchase, the son of Street Cry (IRE) (TrueNicks,SRO) out-sprinted Vineyard Haven in the six-furlong Sanford Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga. In Dubai at age three, Desert Party won the U.A.E. Two Thousand Guineas (gr. III) and ran second in the U.A.E. Derby (gr. II), swapping decisions with the talented Regal Ransom. At four, he captured a grade III event over six furlongs in Dubai, and – in what would be his final career start – won the Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap over seven furlongs.

Produced from the winning Tabasco Cat mare Sage Cat, Desert Party is a half brother to Chou Croute Handicap victress Elliecat.

Desert Party's fee will be announced at a later date.

It's interesting to see Tabasco Cat showing up more and more as a broodmare sire. I wonder how much this has to do with Sauce Boat's Missy Baba-Uvira family?

Glad you brought up Tabasco Cat and the family of Uvira II ! It's very interesting to know That Ice Box  by Pulpit by AP Indy , who's dam Weekend Surprise , she traces back to Uvira II and so does Tabasco Cat's broodmare sire Sauce Boat by Key to the Mint! It is also intersting to note that multiple grade 1 stakes placed First Dude decends top and bottom to Uvira II by Umidwar (GB)

Given that Street Cry has been very successful with Seattle Slew, one can certainly see AP Indy mares being used with Desert Party for profit.
