Multiple graded stakes winner Desert Party (TrueNicks) has been retired and will stand the 2011 breeding season at Darley's Jonabell Farm near Lexington, Ky.
A $2.1 million two-year-old purchase, the son of Street Cry (IRE) (TrueNicks,SRO)
out-sprinted Vineyard Haven in the six-furlong Sanford Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga. In Dubai at age three, Desert Party won the U.A.E. Two Thousand Guineas (gr. III) and ran second in the U.A.E. Derby (gr. II), swapping decisions with the talented Regal Ransom. At four, he captured a grade III event over six furlongs in Dubai, and – in what would be his final career start – won the Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap over seven furlongs.
Produced from the winning Tabasco Cat mare Sage Cat, Desert Party is a half brother to Chou Croute Handicap victress Elliecat.
Desert Party's fee will be announced at a later date.
