Kentucky Derby Winner Monarchos Joins TrueNicks

TrueNicks is pleased to announce the addition of Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos (TrueNicks,SRO). Breeders are now able to run unlimited TrueNicks reports courtesy of Nuckols Farm.

Monarchos burst onto the 2001 Derby scene with three authoritative victories at Gulfstream Park, including an explosive move around the turn in the Florida Derby (gr. I) that would foreshadow his win in the Kentucky Derby. The Maria's Mon colt was a 4 ¾-length winner of the Run for the Roses, clocking 10 furlongs in 1:59.97, the second-fastest Derby ever behind Secretariat. Monarchos also placed in that year's Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and Wood Memorial (gr. II).

At stud, Monarchos is the sire of 2009 Champion Female Sprinter Informed Decision (video below), a multiple grade I winner of nearly $2 million. Monarchos has also sired Rebel Stakes (gr. II) winner Win Willy and 11 other stakes winners.

Monarchos continues the sire line of the late Maria's Mon, also sire of 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver and Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Wait a While. We profiled the recent success of Maria's Mon in a post which you can find by clicking here.

Monarchos stands for a $6,000 fee at Nuckols Farm in Midway, Kentucky.
