Spensive Joins TrueNicks

Stakes-winning California stallion Spensive (TrueNicks,SRO) has joined TrueNicks. The gray or roan son of Ponche stands at E.A. Ranches in Santa Ysabel, California, as property of Y-Lo Racing Stables.

A six-furlong debut winner at Del Mar at two, Spensive went on to score in the one-mile Gold Rush Stakes over a field that included eventual Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) winner Buddy Gil. At three, the Bob Baffert trainee placed in the San Rafael Stakes (gr. II), WinStar Derby, and Sham Stakes. Spensive earned over $300,000 in his career.

Spensive is by Ponche, a graded stakes-placed and multiple stakes-winning sprinter by Two Punch noted for his durability. Runners by Ponche make an average of over 20 starts in their careers. Spensive's dam is the winning Dr. Schwartzman mare Operate Quick, who has produced nine winners from 11 foals to race. The pedigree brings in two strains each of stamina influences Herbager and Ribot.

Spensive will stand for a 2011 fee of $2,500. His first foals are two-year-olds of 2010.
