Malibu Moonshine Joins TrueNicks

Multiple stakes winner and grade I-placed Malibu Moonshine (TrueNicks,SRO) has been retired and will stand the 2011 breeding season at Carlland Stables in Avon, New York. As a TrueNicks stallion, breeders can now run unlimited free nicking reports with Malibu Moonshine.

A durable racehorse who made 62 starts over seven seasons, Malibu Moonshine won seven stakes races and placed in the Suburban Handicap (gr. I). Fast enough to win at five, six, and seven furlongs as a two-year-old, Malibu Moonshine eventually relished extended distances—he won the 12-furlong Point Given Stakes and the 14-furlong Pleasant Colony Stakes. At three, Malibu Moonshine scored consecutive victories in the Private Terms and Federico Tesio Stakes, earning him a berth in the Preakness (gr. I).

Malibu Moonshine becomes the only stakes-winning son of top sire Malibu Moon at stud. Malibu Moon has enjoyed an outstanding 2010, with grade I winners Life At Ten, Devil May Care, and Malibu Prayer to his credit. Malibu Moon has also sired gelding Declan’s Moon, the champion two-year-old of 2004.

Produced from the winning Coastal mare Time to Coast, Malibu Moonshine’s pedigree creates duplications of Buckpasser, Bold Ruler, and Raise A Native within five generations.

Malibu Moonshine will stand the 2011 breeding season for a covering fee of $3,000.

So glad Malibu Moonshine is going to stud.  I live here close to where Malibu Moon started his career in Harford County in MD before being sent to KY. so there is pride in watching all his runners and wish Moonshine the best at stud in NY.

Happy to see  that Malibu Moonshine made it to stud. Gutsy horse - despite his previous trainers. Bring up his charts. This is a classy dude, handled, somewhat dubiously, by previous trainers.
