The stallions of Ballena Vista Farm, located in Ramona, California, are now available on TrueNicks.
Bertrando (TrueNicks,SRO) needs little introduction. A $3 million-earner and Eclipse champion on the track, and five-time leading sire in California, Bertrando is the sire of 50 stakes winners for over $38 million in progeny earnings. By Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Skywalker, Bertrando continues the resurgent In Reality sire line. His best offspring span all ages, distances, and surfaces, including star two-year-old Officer, handicap mare Queenie Belle, blazingly fast sprinters Bilo and Unfurl the Flag, and classy turf milers Karelian and Liberian Freighter. Bertrando's stud fee is $8,000.
Tribal Rule (TrueNicks,SRO)
has gradually ascended to rank as one of the top California sires. The Storm Cat son is a leader in average earnings per runner and average earnings per start. Among his 14 stakes winners are grade I winner Georgie Boy, victorious in the Del Mar Futurity; Alphie's Bet, winner of the Sham Stakes (gr. III); and Tribesman, a multiple stakes winner including the California Cup Sprint. Tribal Rule's progeny earnings exceed $7 million. Produced from the Grenfall mare Sown, Tribal Rule is a half brother to Santa Monica Handicap (gr. I) winner Key Phrase, who has produced sire Yankee Gentleman and Zing, the dam of grade II-winning sprinter Half Ours. Tribal Rule stands for a $6,000 fee.
Consistently among the leading California sires, Benchmark (TrueNicks,SRO) has established himself as a perennial sire of top class racehorses. A multiple graded stakes winner on the track with wins including the Goodwood Stakes (gr. II), Benchmark has gone on to sire 29 stakes winners with progeny earnings over $20 million. Some of his most successful offspring are Hollywood Futurity (gr. I) and Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) winner Brother Derek, Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) winner Silent Sighs, and Ancient Title (gr. I) winner Idiot Proof. A son of Alydar and the graded stakes-winning Danzig mare Winters' Love, Benchmark is a half brother to Yellow Ribbon (gr. I) winner Tranquility Lake, who has produced graded winners After Market, Courageous Cat, and Jalil. Benchmark is available for a $4,000 fee.
San Vicente (gr. II) winner Sea of Secrets (TrueNicks,SRO) is a proven sire getting a consistently high number of winners. By Storm Cat out of a Mr. Prospector mare, he is bred on the identical cross as successful sires Tale of the Cat and Catienus. Sea of Secrets is a half brother to graded winner and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) second Love That Jazz, in turn the dam of multiple grade I winner Society Selection. At stud, Sea of Secrets has sired 19 stakes winners for over $13 million in progeny earnings. He sired the talented colt Principle Secret, winner of the Best Pal Stakes (gr. II). A 2010 star is sprinting mare Secret Gypsy, who won the Honorable Miss (gr. II) and Endine (gr. III) this season and now points to the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I). Sea of Secrets stands for a $2,500 fee.
Ridiculously fast Idiot Proof (TrueNicks,SRO) stood his first season at stud in 2010. Bred on the cross of two premier Ballena Vista stallions, he is by Benchmark out of a Bertrando mare. On the racetrack Idiot Proof earned nearly $1.3 million while running against the top sprinters in the world. In winning the Ancient Title (gr. I), Idiot Proof set a new Santa Anita track mark of 1:07.57. His win in the Jersey Shore (gr. III) set a Monmouth record of 1:07.47. He was gallant in defeat, turning in game performances when second in both the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) and Dubai Golden Shaheen (gr. I). Idiot Proof is available for a $2,000 fee.
Grade I winner Dixie Chatter (TrueNicks,SRO) also stood his first season in 2010. By the late stallion Dixie Union, Dixie Chatter won the Norfolk (gr. I) at age two, leading to a second highest weight on the 2007 Experimental Free Handicap. Dixie Chatter went on to place in four other graded events, including the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (gr. I). Produced from the Deputy Minister mare Mini Chat, Dixie Chatter's second dam is champion two-year-old filly Phone Chatter. His fee is $5,000.
