Super Saver, Hold Me Back Join

WinStar Farm's new 2011 stallions Super Saver and Hold Me Back have joined TrueNicks.

WinStar homebred Super Saver (TrueNicks) claimed this year's Kentucky Derby (gr. I, video below), making him the second colt by the late Maria's Mon to win the classic following Monarchos in 2001. A winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club (gr. II) at two, Super Saver offers breeders a deep classic pedigree. His dam is the winning A.P. Indy mare Supercharger, a full sister to Vosburgh (gr. I) winner Girolamo, and graded winners Daydreaming and Accelerator. The immediate family includes sires Bluegrass Cat, Mutakddim, and Private Account. The tail female line traces to blue hen La Troienne. The Derby winner will stand for a $20,000 fee.

Grade II winner and multiple grade I-placed Hold Me Back (TrueNicks) is a son of top stallion Giant's Causeway. After taking the Lane's End (gr. II) in his three-year-old debut, Hold Me Back went on the place second in the Blue Grass (gr. I) and Travers (gr. I). Out of the Unbridled's Song mare Restraint, Hold Me Back is a half brother to two other stakes horses. His second dam, Avowal, was a champion three-year-old filly and champion sprinter in Canada. Hold Me Back's 2011 fee has been set at $6,000.
