Concord Point a TrueNicks Stallion

Standout 2010 three-year-old Concord Point (TrueNicks,SRO) is now available on TrueNicks in advance of the 2011 breeding season. The striking gray son of Tapit retires to Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Kentucky.

A $220,000 Keeneland September yearling, Concord Point was sold privately following a flashy debut victory at the end of his two-year-old year. The colt would go on to place second in the Lazaro Barrera Memorial (gr. III) at seven furlongs before capturing the Iowa Derby (gr. III, video below) in a track record of 1:40.37, and the West Virginia Derby (gr. II, video below).

Out of the winning Boston Harbor mare Harve de Grace, Concord Point hails from the family of Sorrento (gr. II) winner Tasha's Miracle, Alcibiades (gr. II)-placed Deb's Charm, and Molly Pitcher (gr. II) winner A Penny Is a Penny.

Concord Point will stand for a stud fee of $7,500.

It means that Tapit has underperformed opportunity with Mr. Prospector line mares. He has 39 starters out of Mr. P line mares for only 2 stakes winners, about half his normal strike rate. Interestingly, both SW are NY-bred 2YO colts who won stakes this summer.

Hmmm.Yes,Interesting indeed. Did both SW happen to win in the NY circuit area also, where Tapit did his best running?  Thx.

The two Tapit SW are BANDBOX, who won the Sleepy Hollow S. at Belmont and the Charles Town Juvenile S. at Charles Town; and NEVER RIGHT JOEY, who won the High Rock Springs S. at Saratoga. Tapit only made one start in NY, winning the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct--certainly his best win, though he also won the Laurel Futurity quite impressively at two.

What do you think of Concord Point's chances of being a successful sire?
