Lexington, Ky. – March 14, 2011 – TrueNicks LLC has elected Doug Cauthen, respected horseman and bloodstock manager, to its board of directors. President of Doug Cauthen Bloodstock Services LLC, Doug operates an independent bloodstock management company based in Lexington, Ky.
“We are lucky to have Doug on our board,” said Byron Rogers, partner in TrueNicks LLC. “His experience in building a bloodstock operation and his relentless dedication to excellence in breeding brings a unique combination of skills to our board of directors.”
Cauthen served as president and CEO of WinStar Farm from 2000 to November 2010. During Cauthen’s tenure, WinStar became one of the most successful commercial operations in the Thoroughbred industry. He recruited a powerful stallion roster that includes 2010 leading sire Distorted Humor (TrueNicks,SRO), leading sires Speightstown (TrueNicks,SRO) and Tiznow (TrueNicks,SRO), along with 2010 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) homebred winner Super Saver (TrueNicks,SRO). Cauthen draws from his experience to assist his clients in managing their own operations by developing a comprehensive business model. He also advises clients on mare selection, stallion selection, sales placement, yearling and two-year-old purchasing, and racing management.
“Doug is clearly an expert in building a successful organization, and will help TrueNicks reach our next level of success,” said Marla Bickel, President and CEO of Blood-Horse Publications and partner in TrueNicks LLC.
“I’m honored to be on the TrueNicks board, and to be associated with the excellent team that is already in place," Cauthen said. "I feel that TrueNicks offers breeders a powerful resource that will help them breed a better racehorse, and it offers stallion managers a vehicle to reach breeders and assist them in their mating decisions. The end goal for all parties involved is to breed more stakes winners and to improve the breeder’s market experience – I hope to be a positive influence to that end.”
