Larneuk Stud Stallions Join TrueNicks

Larneuk Stud is a proven winner-producing nursery, situated near Euroa in the heart of Victoria’s thoroughbred country. The farm has now subscribed two of its promising young sires to TrueNicks, allowing breeders to run complimentary hypothetical matings with O’Lonhro and Bramshaw.

O'Lonhro (AUS) (TrueNicks,SRO), who will soon commence his second season at stud, is a son of Lonhro, a stallion who is currently leading the Australia Sires’ standings for 2010-2011. A horse who is physically very reminiscent of his sire, O’Lonhro was a A$220,000 Magic Millions yearling. Unraced at 2, he was two-for-two in his second season, scoring over 1250m on his debut, and then defeating subsequent AJC Derby (gr. I) winner Roman Emperor (with Metal Bender, Centennial Park, and Precedence also in the beaten field) going 1500m at Rosehill. The following season, O’Lonhro took second to Trusting in the Warwick Stakes (gr. II), with group I winners Mr. Baritone and Racing To Win chasing him home, then captured the Chelmsford Stakes (gr. II) from a field that included Roman Emperor, Court Command, Vision and Power, Triple Honour, and Zavite.

O’Lonhro’s sire, Horse of the Year Lonho, appears to be the heir apparent as the most important male line representative of Sir Tristram. He’s already sired 25 stakes winners with his first five crops, O’Lonhro being joined by such as Denman, Beaded, Parables, Obsequious, Renaissance, Trim, Demerit, and Deer Valley. Out of the multiple group stakes-winning Zoffany mare Mamzelle Pedrille, O’Lonhro comes from the same family as Flight, Sky High, Skyline, and Electro.

Bramshaw (AUS) (TrueNicks,SRO) was unraced due to an injury suffered in a barrier accident, but has a mouth-watering pedigree. He’s by twice champion sire Encosta de Lago, famed through offspring such as Sacred Kingdom, Alinghi, Racing to Win, Princess Coup, Lashed, Manhattan Rain, Northern Meteor, Mnemosyne, Sirmione, Road to Rock, Delago Brom, and Titanic Jack to name but a few. Bramshaw is out of the renowned producer Cotehele House, also dam of champion and successful sire Danewin; group I winner and successful sire Commands; and also ancestress of Emerald Dream, Sabene, Special Bond, Listen Here, Fair Trade, Impaler, Taimana, Bertolz, and Stormon. Bramshaw’s granddam, Eight Carat, is one of the most important broodmares ever brought to Australia. In addition to Bramshaw’s dam, Cotehele House, Eight Carat produced five group I winners, among them Octagonal (sire of Lonhro), Mouawad, and Kaapstad. Among the other notables descending from daughters of Eight Carat are Shower of Roses, Tristalove, Viking Ruler, De Beers, Don Eduardo, Kempinsky, and Viscount.

Not surprisingly, in view of his pedigree credentials, Bramshaw has proved very popular and stud, and in his first year at stud, 2008, he covered 110 mares, giving him a very strong first crop of 2-year-olds to run in 2011-2012.
