Unusual Heat Joins TrueNicks

Top sire Unusual Heat (TrueNicks), the leading California sire for the past three seasons, is now available on TrueNicks, with unlimited Enhanced Reports available for breeders. Unusual Heat stands at Harris Farms.

A son of French champion miler and international sire Nureyev, Unusual Heat began his racing career in Ireland where he won stakes at ages 3 and 4, at distances of eight and nine furlongs. Sent to the U.S., Unusual Heat finished his racing career and retired to stud in California. After a promising initial crop that included California Cup Mile winner Lennyfromalibu, Unusual Heat has gathered momentum throughout his stud career and now boasts 29 stakes winners, including grade I winners Unusual Suspect, Golden Doc A, The Usual Q.T., and Acclamation, recent winner of the Pacific Classic (gr. I, video below). His total progeny earnings are over $30 million.

Unusual Heat has an intriguing female family. His dam is the Swedish and Danish champion Rossard, by Glacial. On her home circuit, Rossard dominated the 3-year-old scene in 1983, winning the Danish 1,000 Guineas, Danish Derby, Swedish Derby, Swedish Oaks, Danish Oaks, and Danish St. Leger. For those who might have questioned the class of her Scandinavian form, Rossard shipped to the U.S. to take the Flower Bowl (gr. I) the following season.
