Aussie Champ More Joyous Going to Frankel

As Andrew Bensley tweeted, Australian champion More Joyous has been retired. The More Than Ready (TrueNicks,SRO) mare earned $4.5 million while racking up eight group I wins, capped off by her impressive run in the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Stakes shown below.

Owner John Singleton will send More Joyous to England in July or August to be covered by Frankel, who will serve mares on Southern Hemisphere time at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket. Accompanying More Joyous and also set to visit Frankel is More Strawberries, another Singleton-owned daughter of More Than Ready. More Strawberries is a group II winner, group I-placed (including the Golden Slipper), and is a half sister to group I winner and young stallion All American (AUS) (TrueNicks,SRO).

Galileo/More Than Ready is a cross that hasn't been tried often, but it does have a winner from two starters so far. Additionally, a colt by Galileo out of the More Than Ready mare La Chunga sold for $400,000 last year at Keeneland September. The broad cross of Sadler's Wells/Southern Halo gets stakes winners at an average clip (TrueNicks C), but it does have graded winner Zardana and two other stakes winners.

What do you think of Singleton's decision to send these two More Than Ready mares to Frankel?
